A Story of Farm Labor in North America
and the
Life of César Chávez
A term project for Political Science 235 - Labor and Film, Winter 2011.
Research for this project included compiling and fact checking the story line, and consideration of copious photographic records.
The storyline was condensed and simplified into a "graphic novel" format.
Drawings were inspired by many elements from period photographs.
The images were drawn on Bristol storyboards in non-photo blue pencil and inked with Kohinoor drafting pens. These images were then photo-reproduced and formatted into a 8-1/"2 x 11" fold magazine format,
and 40 numbered copies were distributed to attendees during the class presentation.
Images shown here are photos of the original pencil and ink drawings used to make the novellas.
